Our Red Egg Rental

So, more testing... On my way home last night (my birthday) from seminary, on my way to have dinner with the family that the Mrs. cooked up special, my truck died - I mean, it just plain stopped! The engine shut off at about 35 miles an hour as I approached a stop sign and I later find out that it's due to a timing belt failure. I'll find out tomorrow just how much it is going to cost to repair. So I went and rented a little red egg to get me from A to B in the meantime. It's really a great driving car! Even at $37.20/day for a self-employed seminary student.

The problem is not that my vehicle failed, in fact, I was able to share with a friend of mine how awesome it is that this happened, because as I struggle, I know God is working on me. It's not a comfortable position to be in by any means, but, at least I'm being molded. Thats my attitude.

What the problem is: I wasn't at first thankful that God blessed us with the money in savings to get the vehicle repaired. No, instead I had a poor attitude that I had to spend money in savings to repair it. I have always struggled to save money. Now, God blesses me with it and I'm upset because I have to use it! You know what verse went through my head? Yeah, something about storing up treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy? Kinda convicting.

God had used this to show me that MY money isn't mine at all. He filled my account so that I can take care of these things with a JOYFUL heart! I thank God for that.
